Ingredients

  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for coating

Instructions

  • Follow these easy steps to create your Apple Cider Donuts:
  • In a small saucepan, bring the apple cider to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat and let it simmer until the volume is reduced to about 1 cup (approximately 15 minutes). Allow it to cool.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add the cooled apple cider, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Using a piping bag or a spoon, fill each donut cavity about halfway with the batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  • In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon for coating. While the donuts are still warm, coat them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
