Creepy Crawler Rice Krispies: A Fun Treat Recipe!

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 package 10 oz mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 cup chocolate chips milk or dark
  • Assorted gummy worms and creepy candy insects
  • Food coloring optional
  • Cooking spray or butter for greasing

Instructions
 

  • Begin by greasing a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.
  • In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat. If you want to add food coloring, now is the time! Stir in a few drops until you achieve your desired color.
  • Gradually add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture, stirring until the cereal is evenly coated.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Using a buttered spatula, press the mixture down evenly.
  • Let it cool for about 15 minutes. Once slightly cooled, use a cookie cutter to cut out fun shapes or simply cut into squares.
  • Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled Rice Krispies treats.
  • While the chocolate is still warm, decorate with gummy worms and creepy candy insects for that perfect creepy touch!
